Simple Kids Science Fair Project Idea

You can use Charles Law to show a physical change in an ordinary bar of Ivory soap.

Charles Law states that a gas based material has a constant pressure and if the temperature increases so will the gas and if a bar of soap is made of foam this should cause the foam to increase in size because it is made of cell based gas molecules and will also increase in size.

Let us look at this before we proceed.

Soap is a foam. Foam can be any material that has trapped gas inside of it, somewhat like tiny bubbles. You may not think of soap as a foam because it is solid and hard but foam can come in many forms and they can be solid, hard or soft and spongy. You probably think of whipped topping as a foam as well as foam you use to shave.

We are going to test increasing the temperature on a bar of Ivory soap to see if the gas inside of the foam will cause the soap to expand and cause a physical change.

Here is what we need.

1.A bar of Ivory Soap

2.A paper plate

3.Another bar of soap; not Ivory

Now unwrap the Ivory soap and place on the paper plate.

Microwave the soap and watch it closely while it is cooking to see what happens.

Your soap should finish cooking in 1 to 2 minutes. This all depends on the temperature of your microwave. If you cook it too long the soap will not get any bigger.

Let the soap cool off before removing it or touching it. You may want a parent to help you with this so no one gets burned.

After the soap is cool touch it and examine it. The soap it flaky and hard. It is still soap and you can wash your hands with some of the flakes.

Why does this work?

Well, when you cook the soap it makes it soft and you are boiling the water and gas that is whipped inside of the soap. When you boil water it evaporates and as it heats also expands. When water turns to gas it expands and this causes the soft portions of the soap to also expand and makes it now actually look like a foam.

When you cook the soap there is a physical change but no chemical change. It is still soap. This is also why Charles Law is shown because the volume of gas increase as the temperature increases. The microwaves from your oven excite the energy molecules in the soap and cause them to move very fast and when they do this they move away from each other as they bounce off each other.

If you try another brand of soap, you will probably find that it puffs some but basically melts because many other soaps do not contain the same amount of air. I do not recommend cooking another kind of soap as some have lots of perfumes that have strong odors when they are being cooked.

This is why a bar of Ivory soap will float compared to other brands of soap. It has more air whipped into its preparation and just like a kid with a float on their arms full of air that causes them to float in a swimming pool, a bar of Ivory soap will float because it has lots of air packed inside. Test another brand of soap to see if it will float. Now cut the Ivory soap in half and look at it. Do you see the little holes of air? Look at another bar of soap after cutting in half.

When doing this science project:

1.

Stay at the microwave and do not leave it unattended.

2.

Do not put metal items in the microwave

3.

This will not hurt your microwave or the soap. You can still use the soap when done.

4.

You will notice an odor from the soap as it is cooking. This will make your microwave smell fresh and flowery for a few hours. Only use Ivory soap.

Here is the formula for Charles Law

where:

V is the volume of the gas

T is the temperature of the gas (measured in Kelvins)

k is a constant.

V = Vo(1 + ??)

Therefore, as temperature increases, the volume of the gas increases.

Your Athletic Teenagers Might Help you Save for Retirement…instead of Saving for the Exorbitant Costs of Their College Educations

Wouldn’t it be great if you could save more money for retirement and worry less about how you’re going to put your kids through college? But how can you when the spiraling cost of a college education are enough to send you into a panic. It could cost as much as $74,000 at a public institution and twice that at a private university for a student entering college in the fall 0f 2008. No wonder parents stress out wondering how they are going to afford it. And, no wonder they put their plans for retirement saving on hold until they know how much they will have to spend on their kids’ educations.

An answer to your problems might be right under your nose…or practicing hook shots in the driveway.

Over 1.2 billion is awarded each year in college athletic scholarships, according to Penny Hastings and Todd Caven, authors of the newly released 3rd edition of “How To Win A Sports Scholarship” (Redwood Creek Publishing, 2007, $24.95, www.winaportsscholarship.com). Best of all, athletic kids don’t have to be superstars to get a sports scholarship. Instead, scholarships are awarded to better-than-average athletes who also have good grades.

But, a sports scholarship, awarded to talented high school and 2-year college student-athletes, can cut the cost of tuition, room and board and other expenses…and in some cases pay for it all!

Who gets sports scholarships? According to Hastings and Caven, it is proactive student-athletes who jump-start the recruiting process without waiting for coaches to notice them. They learned from experience when Caven was a high school soccer player who wanted to continue on at the college level. He wondered if he was good enough to compete at that level and how coaches would know about him in the agricultural-based area of Northern California where he lived.

He and his mom, Penny Hastings, talked to many coaches and guidance counselors and searched the libraries for information…but, they found only bits and pieces…nothing that gave them the answers they sought. So, they developed their own game plan, whereby Caven selected colleges he thought he might be interested in. He wrote to the soccer coaches at each school, introducing himself and indicating his interest in their school.

To his surprise, he was contacted and interest shown in him by every one of those coaches. Sifting through the information they sent him about the colleges and their teams brought him to a reasonable list (he sent out 30 introductory letters!) Ultimately, he was offered four scholarships and took the one from prestigious Stanford University, where he played soccer on scholarship and graduated in four years with a degree in economics.

“I received a fantastic education for a fraction of the cost and played the game I love, too,” says Caven. In the meantime, Hastings was able to save money for her own retirement, something that many parents aren’t able to do when they’re busy paying for their kids’ college costs.

They wrote the book “How To Win A Sports Scholarship” after Caven graduated. While at Stanford he learned how college coaches recruit athletes, and he and Hastings decided to write a book to teach other parents and their student-athletes, about the recruiting process and how they can maximize their chances of success.

“Don’t sit back and wait,” advises Caven. “Start the recruiting process yourself or you will probably be left sitting on the bench.”

Healthy Lifestyles, Science Says Honey Is Best for Burns

Healthy lifestyles can be considered quaint when we have new chemical plants making highly expensive new cures, sometimes for maladies not worth the effort. And the discovery that honey will cure a burn up to four days faster than the most powerful new cures for burns.

So, using honey on a burn as the most effective is the tip of the iceberg of healthy lifestyles. It is your entire approach to life: how much you respect and love your inner being to care deeply and gently for you.

When it comes to scientific thinking before science there are surprises. Now even centuries after Egypt had faded as the power and the center of the civilized world, some of their knowledge knew better than we.

But in the past centuries when tombs were uncovered it was found that amidst all the dust and crumbling heirlooms, sealed jars of honey were found. When tasted and tested the honey still tasted and tested as fresh after having been sealed for thousands of years.

And since then we have imported gun powder from the east and built empires everywhere that have come and gone as have the tides of Canute.

And grand advisers and wise men have made their fortunes finding new potions that would cure many matters that ail us. And through history one constant issue is burns to the body whether by poor housing and candles, or mobs with torches.

So many potions have been devised over the centuries to deal with injuries and burns, and any study of evolving science shows this. Almost with hilarity from a century ago were the many remedies that often contained opium as well as horse manure.

Now a study comes to us that suggest that antique science books may have had it right before we got to this century with all our brilliant science bringing us sterile modern gauze, and antibiotic creams with exceptional new high power capacities to heal? Surely.

Well, wrong. In a review of 15 studies, New Zealand researchers found that burned skin covered with honey healed as much as four days faster than skin treated with antibiotic creams and sterile wound dressings.

Lead study author P.C. Molan, Ph.D says honey is ideal because it rapidly soothes the pain, promotes healing, and prevents further damages.

The next burn in your family deserves that you cool the skin with cold water and then spread ample honey on some clean gauze and apply it to the burn. Change the dressing twice a day. And if it is more severe, of course, see your doctor. If you lived in ancient Egypt, this knowledge was available at your local wise man, even if he might have killed you in some other remedy.

I also put honey in my tea, as one way to get some of the healing power inside as well. Solid honey has more anti oxidants, and could be melted down easily for application, although liquid honey would be quicker in an emergency. Best to keep some of both around for the security of your healthy lifestyles. Here’s to your good health.

Divorced Dads Tips: Getting Information About the Kids

DISCLAIMER: The following is NOT legal advice, nor is it a substitute for legal advice. If you are in Family Court you will need legal advice, so please see a lawyer.

Here’s a common problem for divorced dads – Getting Information about the Kids from teachers, doctors and others.

Do you feel you’re being ignored and excluded from crucial events and information in your child’s life because you’re a divorced dad? Do your child’s teachers, coaches, and doctors defer to their mother without consulting you, sending the message that just because you’re divorced, you’ve somehow stopped being a parent?

I can certainly attest to feeling like that.

Despite the fact that I had custody and my kids lived with me full time, I found that teachers ignored my questions, but discussed my kids’ education in depth with their mother. The same went for doctors.

Believe it or not, this is a common problem that divorced dads face whether they are stay-at-home fathers who have custody of their children or whether they are in a situation with no custody agreement.

It may be unfair, but the world tends to have a natural deference to the mother, and the father is often left in the dark.

Don’t despair. There are things you can do.

First of all, I suggest coming to our weekly calls at http://www.DivorcedDadWeekly.com to learn many ways to succeed in getting others to recognize your important role in your child’s life. While it’s not a substitute for legal advice, it is a great way to augment that with practical advice from the perspective of fathers who have already had success in Family Court.

Next, recognize that we do not live necessarily in a fair and just world to begin with. We all long for fairness and want justice, but we do not live in a perfect world. The first step in moving forward is recognizing exactly where you are and defining where you want to be in order to anticipate what your difficulties are going to be and what your strategies is, in order to not make situation worse.

For example, I could have just flipped my lid when those school officials, teachers and doctors treated me like I did not exist. I could have gotten angry, beat my chest, proclaimed my fathers’ rights and threatened to sue. But that would not have gotten me to the other end of the solution I wanted in any way, shape or form. Instead, I would have pigeonholed myself in their opinions as an “angry man”, an impression that, once formed, is very difficult to break.

Instead, I focused on building rapport. When two people have a rapport, the one who is the most consistent on their message and the most emphatic with their message is the one who will win the argument. Staying on point is the key element. If what you truly desire is improvement concerning an aspect of your child’s life, whether it be getting their grades up or deciding on a medical treatment. Stay focused, build rapport, read your audience that you are delivering your message to and stay on point.

If you do these things you cannot fail but to be your child’s best advocate.

During my divorce, I wished for a divorce roadmap. That’s why we created a weekly telewebcast, to help men like yourself.

If you’ve lost in Family Court, don’t give up. There is always hope. You’ve likely lost because you didn’t understand that winning requires effectively “waging peace” for your children.

If you base your game plan and strategies upon those of successful fathers, you will improve your chances of success immeasurably. You need help from dads who have done what you are trying to do.

How to Think to Succeed: the Science of Results Oriented Thinking

In the science of results oriented thinking we learn that thinking is the most powerful tool available to you to help you succeed and create your life with. It is the inventor of all ideas, all riches, all wealth and can even turn a Doctors death sentence into a miraculous recovery. Your thinking is attached to your mind and its ability to create heaven or hell. It can unleash the joys and riches of the universe or keep you in the deepest pit of depression and poverty. Your thinking can fill you with joy or eat you up with rage and anger.

In the science of results oriented thinking you learn that your thinking habits were developed in your childhood. You learned to think by watching parents, authority figures and caretakers react and respond in the world. You developed habits of thinking, responding and actioning. In the science of results oriented thinking you learn that these habits are just something you learned not who you are.  Yet, these habits will determine what your life will be like forever unless some fundamental change happens to your thinking. Most of the thinking style we learn growing up is lack thinking, negative or limited thinking habits. There are actually 6 widely used and deadly yet, accepted negative thinking and speaking habits. Becoming aware of the habit you use and learning something new will help you.

Your thinking habits will determine your self-esteem. Your self-esteem will determine what you think you are worthy of and what you think you are capable of achieving. Those self-worth thoughts create the life you believe you can manifest and will produce evidence of your beliefs and level of self-worth thinking, in the form of where you live, your physical health, how much money you make, who you are friends with and how your relationships develop. You will manifest the life that you believe you can manifest. In your mind this validates what you think is true and this continues the cycle. You can be caught in a cycle of self sabotage for the rest of your life if you do not do something different.

Most often, how people move from this self-sabotaging to self-esteem to I’m worthy trap, is by tackling one goal at a time and this shifts the thought habit pattern, upon the successful completion of a goal. The successful completion of a goal, say getting a college degree, buys or gives you more self-worth so that you can change the way you think about yourself. When you change the way you think your life changes, because thinking is a tool, not who you are. You are not the sad, fearful or angry thought you just had, that is merely something you are experiencing because of the thought you just exposed yourself to.

This form of trying to develop enough self-worth so that your thinking supports your best life is slow and in my opinion not healthy or real. If you want to think to win, you must first detach from the self-esteem equals (What I think of myself + my successes + validation from others – my screw ups = what I am worthy of) equation. You must move into neutral which means there is non judgmental being-ness and ability and what you tell your being-ness will either empower or impair your abilities to achieve a desired outcome.

You are born (what ever “worthy” is) because you are born on the planet. You are “worthy” because you are a child of God, the universe, or Great Spirit whatever you want to call it. In my reality “you are worthy” does not even exist. In fact, “you are worthy” is a lack thinking negative thought that helps you continue thinking that you have to have buy or earn a sense of self-esteem or worth in order to succeed or have what you desire.

When we use the science of results oriented thinking we utilize thinking tools in a different form. We utilize self-command to help us begin to unravel the habit of letting our thinking just happen to us and we transition into commanding our thinking. We utilize power thoughts, explorative thoughts and inspired thought to help us become empowered in our hearts, turn on our personal drive and feed our bodies empowering chemicals that helps us release the genius within us. We tap into the field of possibilities with the miracle thinking which helps us live our best life.

Learning to think “to be successful,” means learning to think in a different way. It means challenging what you think you know and inviting you to empower yourself because thinking is a tool that provides healthy nutrients, drive and miraculous outcomes to your life. So learn how to think healthy and think to create the life you wish to experience

Kids Love Spyware – Do Your Know if Your Kids are in This Group?

So you have a computer which is used by your kids and yourself or try to pay bills or get directions, for most American families a computer purchase is considered to be a great investment because of the many benefits that it brings however, not everyone knows exactly how to take care of it and keep it running smoothly without running into trouble. Most of the time computer problems emerge because of poorly coded software as well as the lack of random access memory, also referred to as RAM.

In a nutshell, the purpose for a computer to have two types of memory (RAM and permanent memory in a hard disk drive) is because it RAM is much faster than a hard drive so all of the applications that you run on a daily basis are loaded into RAM when you first open them for instance, Internet Explorer or Firefox are two popular browsers that when clicked are loaded into RAM memory for fast access, when you have too many programs open you will start to notice a computer gets slower and slower this is due to the fact that when the computer runs out of RAM it starts to use virtual memory which can be placed on the hard drive but since the hard drive is a lot slower than RAM you will notice that there is a lag related to the response times of your applications.

Different computers use and manage RAM in different ways, the main difference is the operating system that it runs. We mention random access memory in order to illustrate the following point, spyware — adware — malware, etc. are all applications that tend to use your RAM and make your computer run slow, not only that but they can gather sensitive information in order to take advantage of your browsing habits.

Kids and teenagers who love instant messaging programs such as the MSN messenger, Yahoo IM, etc. are all prime targets of spyware/adware companies such as Zango. This company distributes their spyware programs by masking them in content that will attract a young audience such as smileys or icons for instant messaging applications, kids and teenagers simply love the thought of customizing their messages and conversations through chat applications and they normally end up downloading software that brings a lot more than just cute icons. Another way that this company distributes their deceptive application is by grabbing videos from popular social video sites such as Youtube and syndicating them in their sites, the only difference is that in order for a person to watch those videos that they have syndicated, the user needs to download and install a software which will allow them to watch the video and as you can imagine the software that is downloaded is not very “user friendly”

The worst part is that once your children or anyone who uses your computer have downloaded such spyware/Adware the application is very hard to get rid of and if you try to erase it with and anti-spyware application you run the risk of ending up without an Internet connection because of the fact that such “programs” change your computer system files. If at this point you wanted to use your computer to get some direction from the web you with quickly notice that you have no Internet connection, and the first thing people do is to blame their old computer because it is too slow when the real problem is that spyware companies such as Zango have altered your system files, loaded applications you did not authorized to be loaded and then when someone tried to remove this harmful application from a computer, all of your functionality went out the window.

So the question remains are you and your kids educated about the risks of downloading “cute applications” from the Web? — remember that your computer (your investment) as well as your personal data is at risk.

The Science of Romance?

Can the science of romance reduce the power and passion of love to brain circuitry?

Can the science of love develop a pill that enhances or reduces romance and love?

Will Valentine’s day become a relic?

Will all the books written on the art of seduction become a thing of the past?

While those questions are interesting, I doubt that the neuroscientists studying romance are anywhere near answering them.

What they are discovering is that there are key areas of the brain that are very important to the human expression of romance and love.

And that there are hormones which are at play in romance, vasopressin in men, and ocytocin in women.

That is Helen Fisher’s key addition to recent research on love.

The four areas of the brain so important to the science of romance are the ventral tegmental area, the nucleus accumbens, the ventral pallidum, and raphe nucleus.

“The hot spot is the teardrop-shaped VTA. When people newly in love were put in a functional magnetic resonance imaging machine and shown pictures of their beloved, the VTA lit up. Same for people still madly in love after 20 years.

The VTA is part of a key reward system in the brain.

“These are cells that make dopamine and send it to different brain regions,” said Helen Fisher, a researcher and professor at Rutgers University. “This part of the system becomes activated because you’re trying to win life’s greatest prize — a mating partner.”

One of the research findings isn’t so complimentary: Love works chemically in the brain like a drug addiction.”

So what happens if romance ends?

The researchers say that the nucleus accumbens becomes more active in the romance process when love ends, and the experience of the lover at that moment is one of craving, like for a drug.

(That is interesting information for those in the domestic violence field, that stalking might be a craving for the resumption of dopamine pumped by a few neurons in the brain in the ventral tegmental area).

Some fMRI work is taking a look at the brains of those who are still in love after 20 years, and discovering that the ventral pallidum and raphe nucleus are active for those folks, and those areas of the brain are associated with attachment and hormones that decrease stress, while the raphe nucleus pumps serotonin, which gives a sense of calm, a kind of contentment, everything is ok feeling.

So perhaps someday there will be a pill to induce the chemistry of romance, but in the meantime, if you want those molecules of romance, then engage in the behaviors of romance, like hugging, kissing, intimate contact, expressions of gratitude, and appreciation. Those behaviors are need to repeated frequently to keep the brain in the habit, if you will, of generating the hormones associated with contentment.

Fake it ’till you make it, my friends in AA would say.

However, those same researchers including Helen Fisher, Ph.D. are zeroing in on information which takes some of the chance out of the art of romance.

Dr. Fisher has created a quiz which can inform the quiz taker of a personality type that he or she is most likely to find romance with.

Dr. Fisher’s breakthrough involves using some research on hormones to highlight the usual dating site information gathered on socio-economic factors, education, likes and preferences.

Student’s Loans for Education Purposes

Loans in India are easily available especially for student’s study purpose. The purpose is to help students get themselves educated. The government provides immense support in this regard. Banks and financial institutions are given the guidelines to offer loans to students looking forward to availing of loans.

As it is known that education is a costly affair, so it is getting tougher day by day for people to get their kids educated. It is more true in case of higher education. So, more and more people find it hard to meet the higher costs related to education. But without proper education too, people lag behind. In such a situation, it is absolutely important for students to find some sort of a console from some or the other organisation. Banks come as an aide in this regard. Students sometimes think of earning while learning. But, this does not really solve the purpose as they are left exhausted at the end of the day. So, they are no longer in a position to study any more. Moreover, they are found to concentrate more on earning than learning and the result is – no learning at all. Thus, Student education loans prove to be of great help for students who aspire to go for higher education. It is hassle free and banks and other institutions offer the loans very easily.

Loans in India that are related to students are of two types. Secured and unsecured loans. Secured loans are the ones where one has to submit a document of income or property in order to avail the loan. Unsecured loans are the ones whereby a student can apply for loans without furnishing any document relating to income source. This type of loans is more feasible for students all over the world. In India too people can avail such an education loan without facing any trouble. Moreover, the repayments of the loans do not start before six months. However, the terms of repayment of the loans is decided by the lender and it differs from lender to lender.

Such student’s loan can be applied for ‘online’. Thus, the borrower of the Student education loans can apply for the loan online by simply filling up a form. The student has to give his or her complete details. Once the verification is done to the desired level, the loan is processed and the amount eventually transferred to the bank account of the borrower. The Online application system is open 24 hours and people can apply for it any time of the day.

Under the student’s fee, every other miscellaneous expanses of students are covered. It includes hostel fees, book costs, food expenditure, tuition fee and other such miscellaneous fee. The only thing is that one should remember to get quotes from the lenders before applying for these kind of loans. The borrower should also compare between the offers of different money lenders before choosing for a particular loan.

It is a fact that, nowadays, Indian students are pursuing higher education even in westerns countries by availing Education Loans from financial institutions. Many of the students have settled abroad after completion of their courses as they were hired by MNCs. The fact still remains is that loans in a great booster of confidence for students in India and also other countries of the world. The availer too remains tension free as there are no hard and fast rules of repayment and there are several repayment options to choose from.

An Overview of Halo Chemicals

Halochemicals are compounds that contain halogens, one of the group of elements that includes fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, astatine, and the as-yet undiscovered ununseptium (the existence of the latter element has been shown, but it has not yet been synthesized).

Chemical and Physical Properties of Halogens and Halochemicals

All of the elements in the halogen group are characterized by their extremely high state of reactivity. All halogen atoms have an outer shell that contains seven electrons, and therefore is one electron short of being a full shell. This means that halogen atoms can gain the electron by reacting with other elements, which in turn makes halogens extremely reactive.

This high reactivity means that it is extremely rare to find halogens in their pure elemental form outside the laboratory. In nature, halogens are typically found as halide salts, and all “pure” halogens commonly exist as diatomic molecules, meaning that two atoms of a given halogen are bonded together.

Fluorine, for example, is so highly reactive that it can form compounds with several of the heavier noble gases, which are well-known for being largely inert. The only elements that fluorine cannot react with are the highly inert light noble gases helium, neon, and argon. Fluorine can also attack other types of inert material, such as glass.

All halogens can form compounds with hydrogen, each forming a strong acid called a hydrogen halide. Halogens can also react with each other, forming compounds called interhalogens.

Halogens are also used to create halocarbons. These are substances with one or more carbon atoms that are linked with one or more halogen atoms. The chemical reaction between carbon and halogen atoms produces strong chemical bonds called covalent bonds, which are not easily broken once formed.

Past and Present Uses of Halochemicals

Halochemicals have an extremely wide range of uses, and fluorochemicals alone are used in a variety of different ways.

Halocarbons have been used as solvents, adhesives, sealants, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and refrigerants, and have been used to create plastics and plasticizers (meaning they are added to substances to increase certain desirable physical properties).

Some halochemicals that were once widely utilized are no longer in use, due to concerns over toxicity, or environmental issues. Examples include chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) such as Freon, many types of fluorocarbons (which were once commonly used industrial solvents, but now have a much more limited range of uses), and solvents such as carbon tetrachloride and trichloroethane, which were once available for public use but are now tightly regulated.

Two particularly well-used halogens are chlorine and fluorine, both of which are added to drinking water in many countries-chlorine as an antibacterial and antifungal agent, and fluorine (in the form of fluoride) to strengthen tooth enamel and help prevent tooth decay.

Many substances-including pharmaceuticals, and agricultural substances such as pesticides and herbicides-also benefit in terms of factors such as stability and potency from the addition of one or more halogen atoms. The addition of a halogen is carried out in a process called halogenation (this process can actually be done in several different ways, each involving a series of specific chemical steps). In many cases, the halogen added is fluorine.

In fact, fluorine is a component of a surprisingly large percentage of modern pharmaceuticals. The addition of fluorine atoms increases the stability and potency of many drugs, and fluorine is currently added to a wide variety of pharmaceuticals, including anesthetics, antacids, antifungal and antibiotic medicines, antidepressants, steroids, cholesterol lowering agents, and anticancer chemotherapeutic drugs.

Learning Which Is the Best Savings Account for Kids Will Help Them Understand Simple Finance

The best savings account for kids puts them online at an early age. Learning the difference between high rate and low rate accounts and the uses of online and local banks is vital to a healthy understanding of finance.

Learning About Money Early Is A Big Advantage

Both types of saving and loan banks serve a purpose for families and understanding how the two are the same and different will start your child down a good life long learning path. No one is ever going to tell you banking is the most fun subject. You don’t see bankers in celebrity magazines (unless they’re really bad).

The Best Savings Account for Kids Educates As Well As Earns

Having said that there is still much to learn and gain by having a savings account for kids. Knowing how to explore multiple offers is one of the important lessons. Going through the exercise of determining the best savings account for kids in your household can provide a lot of learning opporutnities for both parents and children.

Challenges to understand could include:

How is interest computed?

Is this bank local, national, or foreign?

What does FDIC mean?

Why do local banks offer lower rates?

Money Does Not Have to Be A Source of Friction in the Home

All of these factors should be a part of parents’ discussion with children about which is the best savings account for kids. It is also perfectly alright to have the conversation more than once, as needs change and the child grows

Parents Benefit Too

Smart parents who learn about business and money are better prepared to teach their children. Home schooling on the topic of money and business are critical for your kids because it is not taught in school.

It may be true that learning about money can be dull I hope I’ve expanded your mind on the topic. Having money management skills allows the family the ability to do more with less – and be proud of it.
